The Joy of Movement - With Margie Gillis
What is the miracle of who we are?
This workshop is based on sensitizing the artist to the connection between thought, emotion, spirit and body. Through the uses of dance exercises, « games », imagery and guided movement motifs, the artist will be reawakened to the joy of movement. They will be encouraged to « listen » to their body, their impulses, their inner conversations and emotions; and to use this information to expand their existing physical, artistic and creative capacities. The artist will learn to move towards health, fuller expression, creativity and the knowledge of how to share, give and be responsible to and for his/her own unique artistry as a creator.
Internationally acclaimed modern dance artist Margie Gillis has been performing her solo dance concerts for more than thirty years. As choreographer and performer of more than eighty original solo dance works, she has earned rave reviews throughout the world of her intimate, emotional and intelligent portrayals of the multiple facets of the human soul.
« I reveal and work with what is essential, vulnerable and true in our nature. My life’s study is in the miraculous nature of the physical communication of intellect, emotion and spirituality. Dance as catharsis, transformation and revelation.

Nervous and Immune System Communication
In 1978, a simple experiment by two psychology professors at the University of Rochester had some wildly unexpected results. The attempt to explain what happened burgeoned into an entirely new field of study called psychoneuroimmunology. While the concept of stress causing illness dates back to Hippocrates and beyond, medical scientists were, at first, very skeptical of the idea that emotions could impact health. But, research gradually demonstrated the stepwise processes through which the mind communicated with the immune system. It even showed that the immune system communicated with the mind. This is a personal story of the people involved, what they found and its implications for health.

The Medicine Wheel
This is a 2 day weekend workshop given in a large backyard setting in Beaconsfield. Come walk the wheel of life and find which spot is yours.
The Medicine Wheel, which is also called the Wheel of life, consists of 36 stones. It is in a circular formation and aligned like the pyramids, north, south, east and west. It is said that somewhere on this wheel, is a spot (marked by a rock) that vibrates exactly the same way you are vibrating right now, at this time of your life. Unlike the Zodiac, where you are born into a particular place and stay there all your life, the Medicine Wheel spot is one that changes whenever your life shifts in dramatic ways. Such as when you get married, go to college, start a new job, move, have a child, or lose a job or a loved one. By finding your spot on the Medicine Wheel you will begin to understand yourself at a much deeper and more profound level.
Each location has an animal associated with it. This is your totem animal and it is expressing through you at this time. Each location also has a color, a clan or group consciousness, a medicinal herb, and whether it is in the north, south, east or west will show what energies are expressing through you. Finding your location on the Wheel will teach you about who you are when you are joyfully walking your path in life, and who you are and what is expressing through you when you are angry, or lost and off path. Understanding yourself through your location on the wheel will bring enlightenment and re-discovery. This workshop is normally only given on our retreat location in the Northern mountains of Quebec.
In Beaconsfield
Dates: Sat. June 26 & Sunday, June 27
$200.00 for both days. A healthy-lunch is included!
